Allen Christian

Allen Leslie Christian passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. He was the son of the late Edwin Leslie Christian and Hazel (Dames) Christian.

Allen was born, raised and educated in Chicago, IL. He was a graduate of Carroll College in Wisconsin and Perdue University, where he received his master’s degree in Chemistry. He began working for Kimberly Clark in paper manufacturing which lead to becoming a Mill Manager of the Niagara Falls, NY in 1963. He later joined the Dexter Corporation as manufacturing director of the mill at Windsor Locks, CT.

In 1972 he was transferred to Scotland to start a new specialty paper facility. Later moves would include becoming executive Vice President/Chairman of the divisions of manufacturing and marketing activities throughout Europe, until his retirement in 1985.

In 1976 he married the Honorable Margaret Anne Mackay, daughter of the Lord and Lady Reay. In 1978 they acquired property in Key Largo to compliment Margaret’s farm in Scotland.

Allen was an avid fisherman and boater, as well as a keen clay pigeon and game bird shot.

He is survived by his wife Maggie, as well as two children, Lance and Laurel, from a previous marriage.
