Dennis Ray Gobin

February 5, 1953 — May 2, 2026

Key Largo

It's with great sadness to announce the passing of Dennis Ray Gobin aka Captain Dennis. He was a US Merchant Mariner and could drive and fix any boat no matter the size. This man lived a life many couldn't even dream of... from riding his motorcycle across the country and traveling with the carnival to driving cargo ships across the oceans and sailing to Jamaica only using the stars.

Dennis was a deep thinker, an artist, and a TWIN! His amazing, older (by minutes) sister, Janice, lives in a small town in Texas. No matter where in the world Dennis was, he and Janny Bo would talk every Sunday and were best friends. She still cares for their sister, Carolyn, and their Aunt Lenora, who makes the best peanut brittle and jalapeño jam. As much as it hurts that he's gone, "the girls" as he called them are happy to know that he's up there with Momma, the beautiful and strong Dorotha Faye.

After traveling the world by land and sea, Captain Dennis lived out his life quietly and peacefully on his houseboat in Key Largo with his osprey and dolphins and his million dollar view...

He will be missed everyday, but his positive outlook, the lessons he taught and the stories he told will live forever.
