Edward Theodore Olszewski

Rev Edward Theodore Olszewski, the son of Stanley and Stella Olszewski, was one of 8 children. His sisters Genevieve, Carol, Laura, Stella, and Helen and his 2 brothers Henry and Rudolph are deceased.

He attended elementary school at Resurrection Church and high school at St. Ladislaus in Hamtramck, Michigan.

After graduation from high school, he went to Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit. Because of his Polish background, after one year at Sacred Heart Seminary, he was enrolled in St. Mary's College in Orchard Lake, Michigan to prepare for ministry among Polish Congregations.

He received his Bachelors Degree from St. Mary's in June of 1956. He attended St. John's Provencial Theological Seminary in Plymouth, Michigan from 1956-1960. 

He was ordained a Catholic Priest at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Detroit on June 4, 1960.

His first assignment was at St. Vincent De Paul Church in Pontiac, Michigan. Followed by assignments at St. Florian in Hamtramck Mich. St. Cecelia, and administrator if St. Gertrude Church in St. Clair Shores.

In 1976, Rev. Olszewski requested a transfer to the Archdiocese of Miami where he served as a priest at St. Matthew in Hallendale, Florida, St. Mary Magdelan and St. Joseph in Surfside, Florida.

He received a Masters Degree in social work from Barry University, and attended Nova Univeristy where he was enrolled in their doctoral program in public administration.

He was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Miami in 1981 and in 1989 was assigned as pastor to St. Justin Martyr Church in Key Largo, Florida. 

In 1992, Rev. Olszewski had the task of building the church of St. Justin Martyr and ministering to the congregation of Catholics at Ocean Reef Club.

Rev. Olszewski retired as the pastor of St. Justin in 2002 and lived in Miami at St. Anne's Nursing Home until his death.
