It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lonnie (Lon) Chaney of Key Largo Florida, who was born on August 20, 1948 in Sebring Florida, has sadly passed away on December 2, 2025 in Miami, Florida.

Lon was a loving husband to Elizabeth (Anne) Chaney, whom he married on September 17 1969. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Mark Chaney (spouse Dawn Chaney) and Randall (Randy) Chaney (spouse Mana Chaney). Lon was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren. Kaylee Chaney, William Chaney, Hide Chaney, Ryu Chaney, Hayato Chaney and at the time of passing daughter-in-law Mana was pregnant with 6th grandchild.

Lon was the beloved son of the late Lee and Elizabeth Chaney, and sibling to the late Aaron Chaney, John Chaney and is survived by his sister Barbara (Bobbie) Rimes. He graduated from South East High School in Bradenton Florida. Lon also graduated from Miami Dade College with an assocates degree. Lon went on to have a successful career in various fields, including Stone Crab Fisherman, Pan Am Airlines, HVAC and refrigeration, and as an Insurance Adjuster. Lon also served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and honorably discharged as a Sargent.

Lon had a passion for his family, fishing, gardening, and was known for his big heart, generosity and kindness towards others. His larger than life presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
