Richard Scott Sudduth

February 18, 1958 — August 5, 2025

Lafayette, LA

Richard Scott Sudduth, 67, of Lafayette, Louisiana, passed away on August 5, 2025. Born on February 18, 1958, to Lois Allen Sudduth and Dr. Perry George Sudduth, Scott lived a life defined by faith, integrity, and dedication to both family and community.

A graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans, Scott also completed the Graduate School of Banking at LSU in Baton Rouge and the American Bankers Association’s Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma. He built a distinguished 39-year career in banking, serving in senior leadership roles throughout Acadiana before retiring in October 2024.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Scott devoted his time to civic and nonprofit work, serving with the Lafayette Lions Club, the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, the Evangeline Area Boy Scouts Council, the Lafayette Education Foundation, and other community organizations.

Scott was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, golf, and the camaraderie that came with those pursuits. In his later years, he embraced the joy of retirement—spending time with family, sharing stories, and discussing politics, finance, and life with a sharp mind and warm humor. Those who knew him admired how he evolved from a firm, guiding father into a trusted friend and confidant to his children.

Scott is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Theresa Sudduth; daughter Emily Sudduth Daigle and her husband, Colton Daigle, of Lafayette; son Richard Hunter Sudduth of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Bentley and Brady Daigle; sisters Cindy Sudduth Campisi, Jan Sudduth Judice, and Patti Sudduth Domengeaux; and several nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered as a steadfast Christian, a devoted husband and father, and a man whose wisdom, generosity, and quiet strength touched the lives of many.  A prayer service will held for immediate family only.
