Steve M Roberts

Steve Roberts, 68, and long-time resident of Key Largo, FL, passed away peacefully. Steve had a heart of gold and welcomed those he met with open arms and a big smile. He treated all his friends like family and absolutely cherished all his family near and far.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Laura Jean, whom he was married to for 35 years; his parents, George and Gale Roberts; brothers Danny and James Roberts; and nephew Michael James.

Steve was a member of the Transport Workers Union for over 40 years. He was an unstoppable force in the organizing department for decades. He was a second-generation TWU member who followed in his father’s footsteps starting at Local 500 at Pan American Airlines.

Steve worked on hundreds of projects to improve the lives of working people. He dedicated his lifetime in service to TWU and was beyond proud of his accomplishments.

He always loved the Florida Keys, where he spent his early years water skiing and boating. During retirement, he enjoyed boating and traveling with his friends and family. He was an amazing and supportive grandfather to Olivia and Mason, with whom he spent a lot of time—they were his world.

He is survived by his beautiful daughter, Kimberly Gale; his beloved son-in-law, Joel; and grandchildren Olivia and Mason, whom he absolutely loved. He is also survived by brothers Butch (Donna) and Michael (Cathy), and sister Connie (Barry), as well as many nieces and nephews who he absolutely adored.

Celebration of Life for Steve will be held on Saturday Sept. 27, from 1pm-5pm, at the Sexton Cove Homeowners park in Key Largo, MM 106.
