Obituary

Thomas (Tom) Bray, age 84, of Islamorada (formerly Hollywood, FL), passed away at home on August 17, 2026. Tom was born on November 5, 1942, in West Orange, New Jersey, to Margie and Frank Bray. He began work as an electrician and later served 28 years as an electrical inspector for the city of Hollywood. In later years, he relocated to the Florida Keys, where he made his home in Venetian Shores and also served as the Chief Building Official for the City of Layton, FL. Tom served as an Acolyte for San Pedro Catholic Church.

Tom married the girl of his dreams, Judi, and together they lived, loved, and shared many great experiences for over 63 years. Tom embodied the heart of a true Irishman. He loved the water and boating. During Stone Crab season, you could see him alongside his good friend Ted Parker, pulling their traps.

Tom is survived by his wife, Judi Bray (Walker), and his three daughters: Jodi Stomp (Mason), Casey Martine (Glenn), and Tammi Conahan (Paul); five grandchildren: Kody Stump, Samantha Furlong, Bailey Martine Hobbs, Anna Bray Conahan, and Thomas (TJ) Conahan; three great-grandchildren: Kamson Stump, Wylie Furlong, and Cooper Furlong; and his older brother Norman Bray (Nancy) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margie and Frank Bray; his brother, Mickey Bray; and his nephew, Chris Bray.

A funeral Mass at San Pedro Catholic Parish in Tavernier, FL, is planned for September 29, 2026, with the ashes to be spread in the Florida Bay on September 30, 2026.
